Dara has taken the first step towards bringing the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 to Bulgaria, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said during a meeting with the Eurovision 2026 winner at the Council of Ministers.
Joined by members of his cabinet, Radev congratulated the singer on her victory and thanked her “on behalf of all Bulgarians” for the joy, national pride and positive emotions sparked by her success.
The prime minister also revealed that during a recent visit to Berlin, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz greeted him by playing Dara’s Eurovision performance of Bangaranga on his phone.
“I want to congratulate you for the dignified way you continue to conduct yourself after this victory. That is no less important than the victory itself,” Radev said.
During the meeting, Dara spoke about Bulgaria’s future and the need for meaningful reforms.
“Bulgaria is a wonderful country with enormous potential, and I want to see that potential fulfilled and real change take place — the kind of change all those people who joined the protests hoped for,” she said.
