Veliko Tarnovo deputy mayor calls for volunteers to help after flooding

Deputy Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Georgi Nedev has called for volunteers to assist tomorrow and the day after in dealing with the aftermath of the flooding.

Following the intense rainfall across the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, the nearby town of Debelets, as well as in the villages of Tserova Koriya, Prisovo, and Pchelishte - significant damage has been caused to infrastructure, residential buildings, and citizens’ homes.

The hardest-hit areas in the old capital are the neighborhoods along the Yantra River - “Sveta Gora” and “Asenov” - as well as Grigoriy Tsamblak Street and Kraybrezhna Street, he wrote on his official Facebook profile.

Due to the difficult situation following the rainfall, the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa also canceled the festive parade marking Saints Cyril and Methodius Day on May 24.
