Minister
of Justice Nikolay Naydenov has opened the procedure for hearing
candidates for judges in the General Court of the EU. The timely
announcement of these candidates is our obligation, which we must fulfil and we realize that this selection is of particular
importance in view of the importance of the functioning of the
institution, Naydenov said.
By
April 24, 17 candidates submitted documents to participate in the
competition. 13 were admitted and will be heard on May 26 and 29.
Among the candidates are lawyers, judges, law professors. Some of
them are employees of European institutions.
The
selection of two Bulgarian representatives in the court has been
delayed a lot and for about a year Sofia has not had its own senior
magistrates in the EU, which creates logistical problems for the
institution itself, commented Caretaker Minister of Justice Andrey
Yankulov at the start of the procedure in April, BTA reports.
