Bulgarians in Lisbon celebrate at monument to Sts Cyril and Methodius

The Bulgarian Embassy in Lisbon and the Bulgarian Sunday School “Sts Cyril and Methodius” jointly celebrated 24 May, the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education, culture, and Slavic literature. The ceremony took place at the monument to the saints, which was created by the sculptor Dimitar Yankov and installed in the embassy garden in 2003. 

The event began with speeches from Ambassador Elena Shekerletova, Sunday School Director Rumyana Davidova, and School Board Chair Dafina Marinova. Students from the Sunday school then presented a recital dedicated to the holiday.

Finally, first-, second- and third-grade pupils received certificates to mark the successful completion of the academic year.
