Trend Agency survey reports growing optimism about Bulgaria’s future

The change in the country’s political situation following the April 19 elections is leading to an increase in positive attitudes toward Bulgaria’s future. The share of optimists has risen by 5% compared to the previous month, reaching 52%, while 36% express pessimism, according to a survey by Trend agency commissioned by 24chasa.bg.
Expectations regarding the country’s economic situation are also improving. While in April 18% expected improvement over the next year, in May the share of optimists has increased to 27%. Correspondingly, pessimistic attitudes have declined - from 40% in April to 28% this month. One quarter of Bulgarians expect their standard of living to improve over the next year - 6% more than in April. The share of those expecting deterioration has fallen to 27%, compared to 34% a month earlier.
The 52nd National Assembly begins its work with significantly higher public trust compared to the previous parliament, with positive attitudes toward its performance rising substantially - from 10% in April to 31% this month.
The newly formed government begins its term with 45% positive approval, while 36% of respondents express a negative opinion. The cabinet enjoys the support of nearly nine out of ten voters of “Progressive Bulgaria,” as well as around one quarter of voters for DPS, DB, and PP, according to “Trend.”
Nearly half (48%) assess the work of the presidential institution positively, while 33% view it negatively. The president has also gained 8 percentage points in positive ratings compared to the previous month, according to the representative survey by Trend Agency.
