Commemorations of Hristo Botev begin in Bulgaria's Kozloduy

A ceremonial military inspection and commemorative rally with a salute in the town of Kozloduy on the Danube on May 27 marked the 150th anniversary of the landing of Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev and his detachment on the Bulgarian shore. The ceremonial inspection and salute involved 120 military personnel from Vratsa. Dozens of wreaths and flowers were laid in front of the monument to Hristo Botev on the Kozloduy riverbank.
The event was attended by members of parliament, municipal councilors, mayors of nearby municipalities, the Metropolitan Bishop of Vratsa Grigoriy, representatives of state and municipal institutions, and thousands of citizens.

A reenactment of the capture of the ship “Radetsky” was performed by nearly 100 participants from patriotic clubs across the country. The evening concluded with a drone show.
Earlier in the afternoon on May 27, the 78th National Tourist March “Kozloduy-Okolchitsa” was officially opened in the presence of more than 1,800 participants and hundreds of guests.
In the park near the historic Kozloduy riverbank, 205 life-sized models of Botev’s revolutionaries were installed, along with informational plaques about the heroes, BTA reports.
