Crossing through Bulgarian border checkpoints is proceeding smoothly

Traffic at border crossings and checkpoints of Bulgaria with all neighboring countries is normal, according to the Border Police.

At the border with Romania, repairs continue on the Bulgarian section of the Danube Bridge at the Ruse-Giurgiu crossing, and traffic is being regulated in a single lane.

Repair work on the road from Komotini to the Makaza border crossing with Bulgaria is nearing completion, and traffic on the route to Greece is expected to be restored within hours, Radio Kardzhali reported.

The reopening of the road coincides with the ongoing Muslim holiday of Kurban Bayram. Local residents described this as a symbolic and joyful moment, as the restoration of traffic will ease travel in the region just at the beginning of the active summer season.
