The Bulgarian film “Jar of Time” by director Nevena Semova won the award for Best Short Documentary at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in California, USA.
The film had its North American premiere there and was selected by a jury consisting of Amanda Bonayuto, Kangmin Kim, and Sarah Diamond, according to Attic Films.
Prior to its success in the United States, the production had a strong festival presence and received several awards, including Best Documentary and an Oscar qualification at the In the Palace festival, Best Debut at the “Golden Rhyton” festival, as well as Best Debut and Cinematography awards at the Bulgarian Film Makers Union awards “Vasil Gendov.”
Screenings in Bulgaria are scheduled at the “Golden Linden” festival in Stara Zagora (May 30 --June 4) and Sofia Short Fest (June 12–14), BTA reported.
The short film serves as the basis for a new stage of the project – a feature-length documentary that continues to explore the lives of Aishe and Cemal and their challenges and moments of happiness as they travel across the Rhodope Mountains in search of fresh pastures for their cows, Attic Films added.
