A helicopter believed to have been used for international drug trafficking was seized along with more than 250 kilograms of marijuana worth over 2 million euros during a large-scale operation in southeastern Bulgaria, authorities said.
The aircraft was discovered at a former grain storage facility in the village of Zimnitsa near Straldzha in the Yambol region during a joint operation by Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security (DANS) and the anti-organised crime directorate GDBOP.
Four people were placed in pre-trial detention, officials said at a joint press conference quoted by BTA. Investigators said the helicopter's exact role in the suspected trafficking network is still being clarified.
