In
the next 2 years, stagflation is expected for the Bulgarian economy.
This
means slow
economic growth and persistently rising prices (inflation). This is
stated in the regular annual report: "Economic Development and
Policies in Bulgaria: Assessments and Expectations" of the
Institute for Economic Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
(BAS). It presents estimates for economic development until 2028.
According
to scientists, the baseline outlook remains relatively favourable, but
with significantly higher external uncertainty. A certain weakening
of growth is expected - in 2026, real GDP will grow by 1.6%, in 2027
- by 2.5%, and in 2028 - by 3.5%. Inflation will decline, but slowly
- 3.7% this year, 2.9% in 2027 and 2.4% in 2028.
