The government has dismissed Rumen Spetsov from his position as special commercial administrator of Lukoil Bulgaria and appointed Ministry of Economy official Evgeni Simeonov in his place.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Alexander Pulev, the reasons are complex. He added that Rumen Spetsov’s previous professional experience did not provide sufficient grounds for trust in managing the complex processes of the oil and petroleum products market.
Another argument is that no six-month recovery plan for the companies under the control of the special commercial administrator was presented, and that there is a lack of detailed professional reports to assist the state in regulating the sector.
The minister also stated that he has access to classified information and therefore cannot disclose it:
"This is a decision related to national security and to our desire for a transparent pricing process and competitive retail fuel prices in the interest of consumers."
