Bulgaria will be represented by 20 athletes at the BAUHAUS Down Syndrome World Championships Bulgaria 2026, which will be held in Sofia from June 13 to 19, organisers said at a press conference hosted by BTA. More than 400 athletes from 27 countries are expected to take part in the championships, competing in five sports: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, table tennis and athletics.

The event, held under the patronage of President Iliana Iotova, will officially open on June 14 with a ceremony in front of the National Palace of Culture. Competitions will take place from June 15 to 17.

The championship's ambassadors include Olympic, world and European weightlifting champion Karlos Nasar and Bulgaria's top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov. Olympic silver medallists Krasimir Dunev and Boryana Kaleyn will represent artistic and rhythmic gymnastics respectively.
