Bulgaria and Greece have become a strong pillar of stability and a guarantor of the European future of Southeast Europe, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said after meeting his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Sofia. Mitsotakis said Greece had stood by Bulgaria in protecting its airspace from potential threats and that the two countries could further strengthen their defence cooperation, BTA reported.

The two prime ministers held one-on-one talks at the Council of Ministers building, followed by a plenary meeting between the two delegations. Discussions focused on bilateral relations, issues of mutual interest and the European agenda.

The Greek prime minister also congratulated Bulgaria on joining the eurozone and the Schengen area.

At the meeting, it became clear that Sofia and Athens will work toward a long-term resolution of the issue of transborder waters, the acceleration of energy and transport connectivity, and the deepening of defense cooperation, BGNES reported.
