Multinational “THRACIAN BLADE 2026” exercise takes place near Plovdiv

The multinational exercise “THRACIAN BLADE 2026” has begun at the 24th Air Base in Krumovo. It is conducted under the leadership of the Bulgarian Air Force and the Multinational Helicopter Training Centre (MHTC) in Sintra, Portugal, said the Ministry of Defence.

Military personnel and aircraft from Bulgaria, Austria, Belgium, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary and Switzerland are taking part in the exercise. Bulgarian ground units and various support services will also be involved in “THRACIAN BLADE 2026”. Observers from the armed forces of Greece, Cyprus, Czechia and New Zealand are also attending the exercise.

Exercise Director Colonel Peyo Donchev emphasized that “THRACIAN BLADE 2026” is one of Europe’s largest multinational helicopter crew training exercises. He expressed confidence that all participants will make full use of their capabilities.
