Ancient shipwrecks preserved in the depths of the Black Sea, the latest technologies in underwater archaeology, and the challenges of protecting underwater cultural heritage will be presented today at a specialized forum in Bulgaria's city Burgas.

The event, “Preservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage - Capacity Building, Exchange, and Training in Underwater Archaeology,” will bring together members of the diving community, researchers, and maritime history enthusiasts at the Synchron Sport Diving Center.

As part of the forum, modern technological solutions that are transforming the exploration of the seafloor will be showcased, including geophysical equipment, underwater robots, and other remote survey methods. Special attention will also be given to the environmental condition of the Black Sea and the impact of climate change on the marine environment.

The program also includes a virtual tour of shipwrecks discovered in the deep waters of the Black Sea. The presentation will highlight the unique natural conditions that have allowed ancient vessels to remain almost perfectly preserved for centuries.

The initiative is organized with the support of Friends of the Sea - Burgas.
