I am categorically opposed to the territory of the Black Sea being viewed as a militarized zone. The Black Sea is an exceptional asset for Bulgaria, said President Iliana Iotova. The speech was made at the conference "Towards Shared Regional Security for Peace, Stability, and Cooperation in the Balkans and the Black Sea", which is being held in Sofia as part of the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), BTA has reported.

According to the head of state, we must watch very carefully how things would develop, so as not to put an end to tourism and to the industry that is emerging on the shores of the Black Sea, which provides income for the population. No country can guarantee its own security alone. This security undoubtedly requires will and close cooperation within the framework of our strategic alliances - the EU and NATO, the President pointed out.
