A students' team from Bulgaria has won prizes at a global competition organized by the National Space Society in the USA, the First English Language School in Sofia announced. The team of 12 students from the school and from 133rd Secondary School this year won second place in the prestigious international Live in a Healthy Space Design Competition, organized by the National Space Society. Moreover, in 2026, the number of participants was twice as high as last year, with 2,627 projects participating with 14,636 students from 12 countries.
In 2025, the Bulgarian team won first place in the same
competition with the Galanthus project.
This year, the
competition required the creation of a concept for an agricultural
mission for growing plants in space conditions. In the creation of
the Flor Astra project the use of artificial intelligence was
prohibited.
