Traffic remains heavy for passenger vehicles entering Bulgaria through the Kalotina border checkpoint on the border with Serbia, according to Bulgaria’s Border Police.
Crossings at the country's other border checkpoints with Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, and Romania are operating normally. At the Ruse-Giurgiu crossing, repair works on the bridge over the Danube River continue, with traffic on the Bulgarian section of the bridge restricted to a single lane.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police reported 22 serious road accidents across the country during the past 24 hours, resulting in three fatalities and 23 injuries.
Since the beginning of the month, 209 serious traffic accidents have been recorded, claiming the lives of 12 people and injuring 275 others.
Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of road fatalities has increased by 26, bringing the total number of people killed in traffic accidents in Bulgaria since the beginning of 2026 to 183.
