Türkiye 's Foreign Minister holds a series of key meetings in Sofia

Bulgaria considers Türkiye not only a neighbor and friend, but also a key partner in areas such as security, migration, energy and transport connectivity. At the same time, there are emerging fields with significant potential for cooperation, such as high technology and artificial intelligence, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said during his meeting with Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, according to the government press office.

Rumen Radev emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring the best possible business environment in Bulgaria and noted that more than 2,200 Turkish companies are operating in the country. Bilateral trade reached a new record of EUR 7.7 billion in 2024.

At a meeting with President Iliana Iotova, Türkiye’s Foreign Minister discussed improving connectivity and security in the Black Sea region. President Iotova and Minister Fidan also pointed out that disruptions to traffic through the Strait of Hormuz underscore the need for alternative routes, reinforcing the strategic role of Southeastern Europe.

The contract with the Turkish state-owned gas company BOTAŞ was also discussed during talks between Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova and her Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan. According to the guest, the President of Türkiye has instructed that the matter be resolved as quickly as possible.
