Two marches promoting contrasting views are set to take place in Sofia on June 13, with Sofia Pride and the Family March both scheduled for the evening.

Sofia Pride, which organisers describe as Bulgaria's largest event dedicated to equality and human rights, will begin with a cultural programme in Prince's Garden at 4 p.m., according to information published on its website. Participants are due to set off on their annual march through the capital at 6 p.m. under the slogan "Different, Yet Alike" in support of equality and the rights of the LGBTI+ community.

Also at 6 p.m., the Family March, organised in opposition to Sofia Pride, is due to set off from St Nedelya Church and proceed to St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. The event is being held under the auspices of the Sofia Holy Metropolis. Ahead of the march, at 5 p.m., Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil will lead a prayer service in support of traditional family values at St Nedelya Church. According to the organisers, the event promotes the family, the Christian faith and traditional values. The ruling Progressive Bulgaria party voiced its support for the march in parliament.
