Prime Minister Rumen Radev expressed cautious optimism over the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, saying he hoped the long-awaited agreement would prove lasting and that "reason will prevail" despite the still fragile security situation in the Middle East.
Speaking during a visit to Shumen, Radev said the conflict had taken a heavy toll not only on security but also on the economies of Europe and the wider world. He noted that the situation in the Middle East remained highly volatile but voiced hope that the ceasefire would help reduce tensions.
His remarks coincided with a sharp fall in oil prices on international markets, driven by the ceasefire agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Radev was in Shumen for the inauguration of a major new investment project by aluminium producer Alcomet, worth 70 million euros.
