"Missing The Boat" - first original single by Bulgarian supergroup MELODIUS FONK

MELODIUS FONK is the newest supergroup on the Bulgarian music scene, created by drummer Borislav Petrov. He conceived the project as a musical bridge between the intellectual melodic language of jazz genius Thelonious Monk and the explosive groove of James Brown.

Featuring an unconventional line-up of two guitars (Miroslav Ivanov and Alexander Logozarov), bass (Radoslav Slavchev - Riverman) and saxophone (Alexandre Merancienne), the band presents an entirely original repertoire, which they describe as both hypnotically danceable and imbued with a spirit of freedom and adventure.

As befits a supergroup, the musicians of MELODIUS FONK are among the most sought-after instrumentalists and composers in contemporary Bulgarian music.

Borislav Petrov (drums) has enjoyed an international career spanning more than 30 years and has released 30 albums. He is the architect of the band's rhythm and the driving force behind projects such as Jazzanitza.

Radoslav Slavchev - Riverman (bass), winner of the 2022 R&B Awards "Musician of the Year" distinction, has more than two decades of stage experience. Having performed alongside American music legends such as Frank McComb and Poogie Bell, he is the backbone of some of Bulgaria's finest funk, pop, soul and R&B productions.

Miroslav Ivanov (guitar) has participated in countless musical projects, from SAFO, Saint Electrics and Metaformoza to Stefan Valdobrev and The Usual Suspects. He has received "Band of the Year" awards and is the author of three successful solo albums.

Alexander Logozarov (guitar) is the leader of the fusion band Space Kadillak, a participant in numerous original jazz and rock projects, and an established jazz composer whose expansive improvisational style adds conceptual depth to the band's sound.

Alexandre Merancienne (saxophone) is the soloist who connects modern jazz melodic sensibility with the raw power of dance rhythms. After a series of highly successful funk projects in his hometown of Toulouse, France, Alex is now enriching the Bulgarian music scene with his distinctive and unmistakable sound.

Following a series of club performances throughout 2025, MELODIUS FONK is releasing its debut EP. The record features five compositions and will be officially presented at a concert on June 16 at 9:00 p.m. at Bar Singles in Sofia. The first single from the project is the composition "Missing The Boat."
