Midweek weather remains unchanged, with rain mainly over the mountains

On Wednesday, minimum temperatures will range between 13°C and 18°C, with around 13°C expected in Sofia. During the day, clouds will develop over the Rila-Rhodope region and around the western and central sections of the Balkan Mountains, becoming more widespread around and after noon. Brief showers, thunderstorms and conditions favourable for hail are expected. Across the rest of the country, the weather will remain mostly sunny. Winds will be light from the northwest, while southeastern winds will prevail in Eastern Bulgaria.
Maximum temperatures will range between 25°C and 30°C, reaching around 26°C in the capital.
Along the Black Sea coast, conditions will be mostly sunny. Light easterly winds will blow, shifting to southeasterly along the northern coast. Maximum temperatures will range from 22°C to 25°C. Sea water temperatures will be between 17°C and 21°C along the northern coast and up to 22°C in the south. Sea conditions will remain calm, with waves of 1 to 2 on the Beaufort scale.
In the mountains, clouds will persist throughout the day, becoming more significant around and after midday. Many areas will experience brief showers accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds will be light, becoming moderate northwesterly at higher elevations. Maximum temperatures will reach around 20°C at 1,200 metres and about 12°C at 2,000 metres above sea level.
On Thursday, the air mass over the country will remain unstable. Clouds will develop, bringing brief showers and thunderstorms to many places, mainly in Southern Bulgaria. Moderate north to northeasterly winds will continue. Maximum temperatures will remain between 25°C and 30°C.
Across the Balkans, sunny weather will generally prevail. More significant cloud development is expected during the afternoon over the northern half of Romania and the southwestern part of the Balkan Peninsula.
Expected maximum temperatures in regional capitals are 32°C in Athens, 29°C in Belgrade, 31°C in Bucharest, and 29°C in Istanbul.
