Vocal music is among the leading highlights of the programme of the 57th edition of the Sofia Music Weeks International Festival. This year, the prestigious forum once again brings together leading Bulgarian and international performers for a series of opera productions, recitals and chamber music projects.

The culmination for lovers of vocal music comes on June 17 at the Chamber Hall of Bulgaria Hall, where audiences will be treated to two remarkable events.

The programme opens with baritone Alek Avedisyan and pianist Doriana Chakarova. The two internationally acclaimed musicians will present an elegant vocal recital featuring works by Carl Maria von Weber, Robert Schumann, Manuel de Falla and Benjamin Britten.

Immediately afterwards, the stage will come alive with the concert “Alas, Awakening Is Once Again Inevitable…”. Soprano Maria Pavlova and the Vladigerov Trio will take listeners on a captivating musical journey through French culture with iconic works by Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, Francis Poulenc, Charles Aznavour and Michel Legrand.
