Bulgarian team wins four medals at European Physics Olympiad

Bulgarian high school students showed excellent performance and won 4 medals at the European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO), which was held in Sweden from June 12 to 16, 2026. They faced fierce competition from over 200 participants from 41 countries. Bulgarian students managed to win 2 gold, 2 silver medals and 1 honorary diploma, the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association reports.

The gold medals for Bulgaria went to Svetoslav Arabov, 10th grade, from Varna, and Yordan Petkov, 10th grade, from Sofia. The silver medallists are Alexander Nikolov, 12th grade, from Sofia, and Miroslav Draganov, 10th grade, from Burgas. An honorary diploma was won by Atanas Gochev, 12th grade, from Sofia. Their leaders are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neno Todorov and Georgi Alexandrov from the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University, BTA reports.
