Operational data indicate that there are clues to the whereabouts of Petyo Petrov, known by his nickname Pepi the Euro, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Lyubomir Nikolov announced. He expressed hope that if a European arrest warrant was issued in a short time, Petrov would be detained and brought to the country to stand trial.

Pepi the Euro was accused of document fraud on a particularly large scale in the “Eight Dwarfs” case and has been wanted for years.

“The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office has absolutely all the materials related to the operational-search activities in the case,” the Secretary General said. However, he refused to provide details on the case on the grounds that this could affect the investigation.

A European arrest warrant is issued by the court upon a request made by a prosecutor, according to the requirements of the law. So far, there is no information about such a request being received.
