Chinese citizen arrested on espionage charges

The Sofia City Court has ordered the detention of a Chinese citizen accused by the Prosecutor's Office of espionage. This was announced by the press center of the prosecution. According to the Prosecutor's Office, from July 2025 to June 18 this year in Sofia, the accused made an attempt to collect information constituting a state secret with the aim of passing it on to a foreign country, as the act remained unfinished. The court accepted that there was a real danger of absconding, which is why it determined that the measure of detention against the citizen was appropriate.
