Bulgaria is restarting car production and will become the sole producer of the new GWM Ora 5 for the EU market. The vehicle will be manufactured in the village of Bahovitsa near Lovech, where Chinese automaker Great Wall previously assembled the Steed and Haval H6 models.
GWM plans to offer the Ora 5 in several different body styles, including a hatchback, SUV, and estate version. According to the automotive website automedia.investor.bg, production of the electric vehicles is scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Only the electric version of the model will be produced in Bahovitsa due to the European Union’s new tariffs. At a later stage, production of hybrid and gasoline-powered versions may also be introduced.
