On 27 and 28 June, one of the most anticipated events in Bulgaria’s mountain biking calendar will take place: the first round of the Maxxis BG Downhill Series for the season. The race will take place under Mount Mechi Chal above the town of Chepelare in the Rhodope Mountains.
The competition returns after a two-year break, according to sportal.bg.
More than 150 participants are expected to take part in the downhill race, coming from all parts of Bulgaria, along with some of the best riders from neighboring Greece.
The competitors will test their skills on the iconic “Bruce Lee” track above Chepelare, the longest active downhill course in Bulgaria and a real challenge even for the most experienced athletes. The trail is nearly 3.5 km long with an impressive elevation drop of 713 meters. It features numerous high-speed and steep sections, technical turns and natural obstacles.
