The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied allegations of distributing a diplomatic note related to the visit to Bulgaria of the family of North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. “The information that has been circulating in the public domain in recent days refers to a verbal note dated January 6, 2026 and concerns long-past events. At present, this information cannot be perceived as a basis for conclusions that there is an immediate danger to the security of citizens of Bulgaria or another country,” the Foreign Ministry’s position reads. The statement comes after North Macedonian Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski said at a press conference in Skopje that he expects an apology and explanation from Sofia for “publicly disclosing a diplomatic note,” BTA reports.
