Cross-border parade to unite the banks of the Danube

The first cross-border parade of Ruse and Giurgiu under the motto "Danube Parade - Two Flags, One River" will be held on June 27 - Saturday. The program includes a river parade with over 200 boats and jets, an air show and concerts, Ruse Deputy Mayor Zlatomira Stefanova told BTA.

“Similar events are held in Europe and elsewhere. People feel connected to the Danube and to nature. The courage to organize this event came from a sense of dissatisfaction. Giurgiu is a city in decline and we believe that the Danube, Ruse, and Schengen are our opportunities,” Dan Balint who is the main organizer from the Romanian side says. He is an entrepreneur and representative of the Arpatia Association.

During the river parade, shipping on the river will be suspended. The Danube Bridge near Ruse will also be closed to traffic for about an hour.
