Bulgaria has the potential to establish itself as a regional energy hub and a significant player in the development of artificial intelligence in Europe, Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova-Chamova said at the 3rd AmChams Regional Economic Summit in Sofia. According to her, the country’s geographical location makes it a natural bridge between Europe, the Middle East and Asia, creating favorable conditions for the development of a number of strategic sectors.

Minister Petrova-Chamova highlighted the importance of projects aimed at expanding energy connectivity and partnerships that increase Bulgaria’s capacity and strengthen its role in the region. She also highlighted the importance of developing high technologies: “Bulgaria is securing its place in Europe’s artificial intelligence ecosystem and is home to one of Europe’s AI gigafactories”, said Velislava Petrova-Chamova.

The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States is expanding across a broad range of areas — from defence and security to energy connectivity, education and culture, Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova added.
