The largest gold coin hoard from the 11th–12th centuries ever unearthed in Bulgaria can be seen for the first time in all its splendour in the new exhibition "Human Passions: The Price of Desire" at the Regional Archaeological Museum Plovdiv.
The exhibition features all 786 gold coins from the so-called Gornoslav Golden Treasure — one of the most significant numismatic discoveries in Bulgaria. In addition to being a valuable source of information about the economic, political and cultural processes of the Middle Ages, the treasure also serves as a starting point for reflection on human aspirations and desires.

The exhibition is a joint project of the Regional Archaeological Museum – Plovdiv and the Aliteya Foundation, BTA reports. Its author and curator, Desislava Davidova, draws attention to one of the most powerful driving forces in human history — desire. Through archaeological artefacts, poetry and artistic interpretations, visitors are invited to reflect on the price of fulfilled and unfulfilled dreams, as well as the pursuit of wealth, love, power and recognition.

The exhibition is on display until 30 November in Hall 9 of the Regional Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv.
