Diplomatic staff protest in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs protested in front of the ministry. Their main demand is "For a dignified diplomatic service". The protest is against budget 2026. Diplomatic staff member Dobrin Stanev posted a photo from the protest on Facebook. In an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio, Stanev outlined the demands for regulation and fair payment for the diplomatic service, including insurance for those working abroad.

A shared goal for all of us is to strengthen and secure our diplomatic service, as its most valuable resource is its employees, the Foreign Ministry said.

The proposed draft budget for 2026 is not due to a divergence from this vision on the part of the government, but is a result of the inherited fiscal situation and significant imbalances in the remuneration of employees of the various administrations, which have accumulated over years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
