Traffic on the renovated carriageway of the Danube Bridge at Ruse will reopen on Tuesday, June 30, at around 10:00 a.m., restoring two-way traffic for all types of vehicles, Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency announced.

The final works on the last closed 320-metre section of the bridge, in the direction of Romania, were completed yesterday. The completion of the roadworks at the beginning of the summer season will facilitate travel for all drivers, including Romanian tourists heading to Bulgaria's Black Sea resorts.

After June 30, work on the project will continue on the bridge's substructure, including its supports and steel structure, without affecting road traffic in any way. All construction and rehabilitation works are expected to be completed by September.

The overhaul of the 1.057-kilometre Bulgarian section of the Danube Bridge began on 10 July 2024. Since the bridge was commissioned 70 years ago, in 1954, it has never undergone a major renovation.
