Patriarch
Daniil commented in Sofia on the decision of the Holy Synod not to
discuss the issue of new sanctions against Russia and the Bulgarian
government's objection to including Russian Patriarch Kirill in them.
"Let's
not mix geopolitics and church affairs. There was even a recent
statement at the meeting of Pope Leo with cardinals from around the
world, where such an opinion was expressed that the sanctions imposed
by the EU are against certain countries. At the same time, this
principle is not applied to other places where there are armed
conflicts, invasions and much more brutal consequences for entire
peoples," said the head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, quoted
by BNR reporter Viktoria Todorova.
