Nearly 95% of students in Bulgaria already use artificial intelligence for educational purposes, with almost half doing so every day or several times a week. This is according to a nationwide survey conducted by the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM) on schools' readiness to integrate AI, the Ministry of Education and Science announced. The survey covered 10,038 students, 1,767 teachers and 210 school principals from 63 schools across the country.
Teachers should play the leading role in introducing artificial intelligence into the educational process, guided by clear rules to ensure that new technologies are used responsibly and for the benefit of students, Minister of Education and Science Prof. Georgi Valchev said when presenting the survey results.
According to the minister, the education system has already accumulated valuable experience, a willingness to experiment and examples of good practice. However, schools are progressing at different speeds and have varying levels of capacity to implement AI effectively.
