A joint Romanian-Bulgarian Polar Science Symposium has begun in the city of Constanța. The event is being held at the local branch of the National Institute for Research and Development on Marine Geology and Geoecology (GeoEcoMar).

"I attended a similar symposium in Bulgaria. You discuss highly specialized topics that can truly be understood and appreciated only at events like this. As a representative of the Bulgarian state, I am very happy to be here. Let me remind you that the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was founded in Brăila, and this is where the strong ties between the academic and university communities of our two countries began," the diplomat said.

The Chairman of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, Prof. Hristo Pimpirev, invited Romanian researchers to join the 35th Bulgarian Polar Expedition and work alongside their Bulgarian colleagues.

The National Institute for Research and Development on Marine Geology and Geoecology (GeoEcoMar) is a government research and development institution coordinated by the Romanian Agency for Science and Innovation. Its main activities focus on research into river-sea systems, particularly the Danube, the Danube Delta and the Black Sea.
