National Audit Office to examine social payment spending since 2020

The National Assembly has tasked the National Audit Office with conducting audits of the National Social Security Institute and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy regarding the implementation of social payments for the period from January 1, 2020, to June 2026, BNR’s reporter Daniel Inkov informed.

"The extraordinary audit is a necessary step toward stabilizing public finances and providing an objective assessment of the state of the social security system", Progressive Bulgaria MP Stefan Belchev said while presenting the proposal from the parliamentary podium.

"Our goal is to determine whether there are inefficiencies and distortions that are currently disadvantaging some pensioners. Our approach is objective and comprehensive", the representative of the governing party said.
