Traffic is heavy at the “Kapitan Andreevo” border checkpoint for outbound cars and trucks heading to Türkiye, the Border Police said. The queue of freight trucks is around two kilometres long. Traffic at the border checkpoints with Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia and Romania is normal.
Traffic has been restored in both directions on the Yambol–Lesovo border checkpoint road in the Elhovo area, the Road Infrastructure Agency said. The section was completely closed for about two hours on the evening of July 2 for the removal of a heavy-duty truck that had crashed off the roadway.
On Friday and Sunday, to facilitate weekend travel when traffic is at its heaviest, the movement of heavy-goods vehicles over 12 tonnes will be temporarily restricted in the afternoons on the “Trakia” and “Struma” motorways, as well as through the Kresna Gorge.
