Grigor Dimitrov advances to third round of Wimbledon

Grigor Dimitrov secured a brilliant victory over 15th seed Jakub Menšík, winning 7:6(5), 4:6, 7:5, 6:3. The Bulgarian will face Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in the third round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Berrettini earlier defeated 20th seed Arthur Fils.

Dimitrov gave an emotional on-court interview after his win:

“Honestly, thank you! I don’t have much to say, other than that I am so happy to be back and just play tennis in front of you. The past year has been so difficult. I did not think about winning or losing. I feel so loved, so supported anywhere in the world. Thank you for embracing me and thank you for supporting me”, the tennis player said.

Dimitrov was also asked about his upcoming match against Matteo Berrettini. “If nothing elso, it is going to be a pretty match. I can’t wait”, Dimitrov said.
