The first International Festival Academy, with artistic director Yordan Kamdzhalov, will open on July 8 in the Bulgarian mountain resort of Bansko. In an interview with BTA, the prominent Bulgarian conductor described the academy as “a miracle in these difficult times”.

The International Festival Academy will bring together a number of established ensembles and artists, an international children’s festival choir, as well as a highly qualified teaching team. The large-scale music project will gather children and young people aged between 8 and 16 from Bulgaria and abroad.

Participants will be engaged in artistic activities alongside renowned artists from Bulgaria, Europe and around the world, including Genesis Orchestra, the vocal group “Idna”, prominent Bulgarian pianists Martina Tabakova and Georgi Cherkin, and the Music Laboratory for the Human Self choir.
