Bulgaria will provide financial support to Ukraine within the limits of its capabilities and without affecting its social spending, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara. He added: 'We must take into account the substantial deficit inherited from previous administrations.'

Radev stressed that global security challenges require the Alliance to remain united, the Bulgarian News Agency BTA reported.

Turning to the topic of Greenland, he stated that a solution must be found to guarantee the right to self-determination of the local population. 'Greenland currently allows for the stationing of military equipment and capabilities on its territory. So this process could simply be expanded,” he said.

Against the backdrop of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, he emphasised that Bulgaria is strengthening its national defence capabilities, thereby becoming a key factor in stabilising the critical Black Sea region.
