Morning lows in Bulgaria will range between 15°C and 20°C, with around 16°C in Sofia. During the morning, showers will linger over southeastern Bulgaria, while western and central northern parts of Bulgaria will enjoy mostly sunny weather.
By the afternoon, clouds will develop. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly in southern and eastern Bulgaria, with a risk of hail in some areas. Northwesterly winds will gradually weaken, while in eastern Bulgaria they will shift to the northeast and remain moderate.
Daytime highs will range from 26°C to 31°C, reaching around 26°C in Sofia.
Along the Black Sea coast, cloudy periods will bring brief showers and thunderstorms. Moderate north to northeasterly winds will keep temperatures between 25°C and 27°C. Sea water temperatures will be 24°C to 25°C, with slight sea conditions of 1 to 2 on the Beaufort scale.
In the mountains, the day will begin mostly sunny. During the afternoon, clouds will build over the mountain ranges of southern Bulgaria, bringing brief showers and thunderstorms. Moderate northwesterly winds will continue. Temperatures will reach around 19°C at 1,200 metres and 11°C at 2,000 metres.
Friday will be predominantly sunny throughout the country. Afternoon cloud development is expected, but the chance of rainfall will remain low, with only isolated showers possible over the mountains. Maximum temperatures will again range between 26°C and 31°C.
Across the Balkan Peninsula, skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny. Eastern parts of the peninsula will see afternoon cloud development, with showers and thunderstorms expected in many areas.
Expected maximum temperatures in the region are 30°C in Athens, and 28°C in Belgrade, Bucharest and Istanbul.
