Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev and his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dačić, are set to sign an intergovernmental agreement to build a new joint border crossing, Kalotina 2–Gradina 2.

The crossing will be built to European standards and is expected to handle a significant share of passenger and freight traffic. It will operate under a one-stop border control system, enabling travellers to complete checks at a single point and reducing waiting times at the border.

The ministers will also meet at the existing Kalotina border crossing to discuss closer bilateral cooperation, border security and measures to improve cross-border traffic.
