Traffic at all border crossings across Bulgaria is flowing normally on Friday morning, according to the Border Police.

To ease expected holiday traffic, restrictions will be introduced for heavy goods vehicles travelling towards the Kulata border crossing, Bulgaria's main route to Greece. On 10 July, trucks weighing more than 12 tonnes will not be allowed to travel in the direction of Kulata between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

On Sunday, 12 July, the restriction will apply between 3:30 pm and 10:00 pm for heavy vehicles travelling towards Sofia. During these periods, trucks over 12 tonnes heading to or from Kulata border crossing will be diverted via the Simitli, Gotse Delchev, Chuchuligovo and Kulata village bypass route.

The measures are intended to improve traffic flow through the Kresna Gorge and enhance road safety for travellers heading to Bansko and other tourist destinations in the region.

The Road Infrastructure Agency also announced that traffic will be temporarily reorganised into two lanes in the direction of the busiest travel routes to help ease congestion.
