Bulgaria records its first monthly deflation of 2026

Bulgaria's annual inflation slowed to 5.4% in June, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute. This marks a decrease of 1.5 percentage points compared with May, when annual inflation stood at 6.9%.

June also saw monthly deflation of 0.9%. The last time Bulgaria recorded negative monthly inflation was in September 2025, when consumer prices fell by 0.8%, the statistics show.

Inflation since the beginning of the year stands at 2.9%. According to the national Consumer Price Index, accumulated inflation over the past three years has reached 12.8%, while over the past five years it has totalled 43.3%.
