Kaval virtuoso Nedyalko Nedyalkov will perform at two music festivals in France

Bulgarian kaval virtuoso Nedyalko Nedyalkov will perform with the Hespèrion XXI ensemble at two renowned music festivals in France, the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Paris announced on Facebook.

The first concert will take place on 15 July at the Music and History Festival near Narbonne in southern France, followed by a performance on 17 July at the Les Suds Festival in Arles.

Under the baton of Jordi Savall, the programme, entitled "Istanbul 1700", will present music by Dimitrie Cantemir, inspired by his seminal work, The Book of the Science of Music.

On stage, Nedyalkov will perform alongside five internationally acclaimed musicians: Hakan Güngör (Turkey, qanun), Murat Aydemir (Turkey, tanbur), Artyom Minasyan (Armenia, duduk), Dimitri Psonis (Greece, santur), and David Mayoral (Spain, percussion).

This year marks the 20th edition of the Music and History Festival. Founded by Jordi Savall at Fontfroide Abbey, the festival explores the meeting of different cultures through their musical traditions.

Nedyalko Nedyalkov is one of Bulgaria's leading kaval performers. Since 1996, he has been a soloist with the Bulgarian National Radio Folk Music Orchestra. He is the recipient of numerous awards and also teaches at the National Academy of Music in Sofia.
