The exhibition “The Old Urban Houses Tell Their Stories” will open today at the “Emfiedzhieva House” Museum in Kyustendil. It is the work of cultural organizations from Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia and forms the basis of a cross-border cultural route, the municipal authorities announced.
The exhibition features thirteen architectural sites from Dupnitsa, Kyustendil, Kriva Palanka, and Kratovo, taking visitors back to the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century — a time when towns in the central Balkans underwent significant economic, administrative, and cultural changes. The transformation left its mark on various aspects of urban life, but its effects are most clearly visible in the architectural environment.
The exhibition was created as part of the Cultural Area project, funded under the Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria–North Macedonia 2021–2027 programme.
