Newsmax, the fourth most popular cable news channel in the United States, which is available in more than 100 countries, has plans to expand its brand into Bulgaria. The media outlet announced on its website that it has already reached an agreement to do so, with the news coinciding with expectations of a possible sale of Nova TV.

On May 30, Bulgarian Premier Rumen Radev met with journalist Christopher Ruddy, the founder and CEO of Newsmax. No official information about the meeting was provided by the Bulgarian side. However, 24chasa.bg noted that Newsmax accompanied information about the meeting on its X account with a photo of Radev and Ruddy and the following text: “Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy meets Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev at his office in Sofia today''. Chris Ruddy described Bulgaria’s prime minister as: ''A new leader for Europe: positive, strong, pro-NATO, pro-American, pro-Trump, pro-Israel.'' Two days later, on June 2, the media outlet officially announced its future plans for expansion in Europe.

Newsmax frequently features news about Bulgaria. The company has signed agreements to expand its operations in Serbia, Germany, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria and Ukraine with partners offering channels in local languages.
